This is truly one of those best investments I have ever made

This is Elaine from your Thursday night class, just turn up to give you a bit of feedback. First of all, I have to say this is truly one of those best investments I’ve ever made, I like the way you explain things, very patient, clear and covering all the key points, and the case studies you demonstrated in class are quite typical too, which helped me to understand better how things work under different work scenarios.

I also want to share some of my experiences and hopefully it will give you a bit of help for your own job hunting.

Ok, a little introduction for myself. I did some payroll job one and a half years ago, and this year I firstly started to look around in March for like two weeks. And as you all may realise that the market is so tight that I would not get any chances with such limited experience. Then, I saw Nicole’s ad and kinda had a feeling that it might lead to a breakthrough here.

Like I commented earlier, Nicole does have a fairly effective method of teaching, you will get hands-on experiences from her class instead of loads of theories from books...and this actually helps a lot when you go to an interview, you all know how confident you can be when you talk about something you actually have participated in.

I actually just started sending CV last Sunday, and this is literally the first interview I went to (and I got the job! yeah!), so I might be able to give out some tips on interviews:

1. Be prepared before you go, know what you’ll be talking about.

2. Dress up properly, i.e. wear a suit, and remember you are not going to a night club or a fruit market.

3. Be confident, show them you have a can-do attitude and the enthusiasm to learn whatever that you are not so familiar with.

4. Try not to give long speech on your own, instead, try to make some conversations.

5. Do not be too nervous, tell yourself they are not there to judge you. The fact that they picked you from hundreds of applicants only means they are interested in your profile and want to know you more.

6. Give examples to support your stories.

7. Keep smiling and be as outgoing/friendly as possible, in most cases, you are not going to be the only employee in that company.

8. Don’t say anything negative about yourself or your former employer, if you have to, make sure you can come up with a solution to mitigate the issue.

9. Remember to thank them for the interview, good manners do count.
